Musk’s Starlink Granted Final Licence, Enabling India Entry

India’s space regulator has granted Starlink, the satellite‑internet unit of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, its final licence to operate commercially in the country. This approval clears the last regulatory hurdle following spectrum licensing, opening the door for rollout of global high-speed internet services in India over the next five years.

The Starlink entry follows a landmark decision for Jio’s satellite offering and represents another vote of confidence in India’s commitment to expand digital infrastructure. It has major implications for rural connectivity, remote education, and enterprise-level services, where traditional telecom infrastructure has remained underdeveloped.

Implementation now hinges on spectrum allocation, ground-station setup, and navigating national security protocols. For investors and technology observers, this development positions India as a competitive market in the satellite broadband space—setting the stage for robust digital transformation and competitive telecom dynamics.
