The US stock market has been on a strong upward streak for four straight sessions, with major indices — the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq — all rallying on Wednesday. But investors hoping to catch the next move on Thursday, November 27, 2025, will have to wait. The US observes Thanksgiving today, a national holiday celebrated every fourth Thursday of November, marking the official start of the American holiday season.
As per the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) holiday calendar, both the NYSE and Nasdaq will remain fully closed for Thanksgiving. This means no trading in equities, ETFs, or options, and even the US bond markets will take the day off.
Trading will resume on Friday, November 28, but only for a shortened Black Friday session, running from 8:00 pm to 12:30 am IST.
Wall Street Rally Ahead of the Holiday
US markets wrapped up Wednesday on a high note, boosted by tech strength and growing optimism around a possible December rate cut from the Federal Reserve. All three key indices logged their fourth consecutive day of gains.
Dow Jones climbed 314.67 points (0.67%) to 47,427.12
S&P 500 rose 46.73 points (0.69%) to 6,812.61
Nasdaq Composite jumped 189.10 points (0.82%) to 23,214.69
With markets closed today, traders are now eyeing Black Friday’s shortened session for the next pulse of momentum.
